National Survey Policy Brief

WISH – the Wadadli Initiative for Self-care and Healing presents the findings of its 2024 National Mental Health Perception and Access Survey, offering insight into public awareness, stigma, access to services, and priorities for strengthening mental health care in Antigua and Barbuda.

Conducted in October 2024, the survey gathered responses from 154 participants across multiple parishes. The policy brief translates community experiences into evidence to inform public dialogue, media reporting, and policy development.

The findings point to growing awareness and engagement around mental health, alongside persistent barriers such as affordability, service availability, information gaps, and stigma. The brief acknowledges progress made within the health sector and highlights opportunities for continued reform, including the advancement of comprehensive mental health legislation.

WISH supports a collaborative, evidence-based approach and stands ready to work with government, health institutions, civil society, and partners to strengthen mental health systems and outcomes.
